RECOMMENDATION

recommendation

That Council appoint two applicants to the Arts Commission.

body

BACKGROUND

The Arts Commission has a membership of seven seats. There are two seats available and three applicants. Elizabeth Grasso and Barbara Shands have reapplied, and Jaclyn Barcewski has applied. As of this evening, all applicants have been interviewed.

After the meeting on December 11, 2021, staff discovered there was an additional applicant for the Arts Commission. The application was submitted within the deadline for the Art Commission recruitment and staff is bringing forward all of the applications to consider. Once the Council decides which applicants to appoint, an official onboarding letter will be sent to the appointees.

In addition, staff has double checked that all applications sent through the online system have been accounted for and that there are no additional applications that were sorted into an email spam folder.

FISCAL IMPACT

There would be no direct fiscal impact to the Town to approve this item.

CEQA AND CLIMATE ACTION PLAN CONSISTENCY

The proposed project is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), under the “common sense” exemption, because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment.  (Cal. Code Regs. tit. 14, § 15061).
