That Council approve the Coalition of Sensible Tax Payers (CO$T) application for Candidates Forum event, date will be held at noon on an upcoming Sunday with the final date TBD.

body

BACKGROUND

Traditionally, during elections that include open seats on the San Anselmo Town Council, outside organizations hold candidate forums which give the public the chance to hear from each of the candidates running for the open seats.

DISCUSSION

This year no candidate forums have been organized. In an effort to help provide an event and venue for a 2022 Candidates Form, CO$T has requested the use of the Creek Park amphitheater on a Sunday in October to hold a candidate’s forum event. This event application was brought to staff very late and without a firm date. If approved, CO$ST will work with staff to finalize the date.

The attached application provides details of the events with comments and conditions from Town staff.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no fiscal impact related to this request.

CEQA AND CLIMATE ACTION PLAN CONSISTENCY

Considering approval of an event application is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), under the “common sense” exemption, because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the activity in question may have a significant effect on the environment.  (Cal. Code Regs. tit. 14, § 15061).
